FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas extended Seattle’s losing streak to four games and ended the Sounders’ Supporters' Shield hopes with a 2-0 victory in front of 15,017 fans at Toyota Stadium in Schellas Hyndman’s final home game as coach of the team.

The first FC Dallas goal in the 65th minute came off of a set piece expertly delivered by second-half sub Michel and headed home by defender Matt Hedges, who didn't even give Sounders goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann a chance to react.

Seattle should have equalized barely a minute later when a Clint Dempsey through ball sent Brad Evans in on goal alone. But Dallas ‘keeper Chris Seitz charged off his line and hurried Evans into pushing his shot from 12 yards away just wide right.

Dempsey was probably lucky to still be on the field to make that pass after a first half altercation involving Dallas midfielder Jackson. The Texas native directed a retaliatory kick at Jackson after the Brazilian had tripped Dempsey from behind. Cooler heads eventually prevailed and the on-field result was a lone yellow card shown to FCD midfielder Peter Luccin for protests.

Dallas then put the game away in the 87th minute on a Michel tap-in that proved the culmination of a frantic sequence in Seattle’s 18-yard box. David Ferreira fired an attempt on goal and the shot glanced off Sounders defender Patrick Ianni to Michel, who gladly slotted the ball into the net for his third tally of the season and second against Seattle.

With the Saturday's goal and assist, Michel has now been involved in 20 of Dallas’ 47 league goals on the season.

The first half ended scoreless, but it certainly wasn’t lacking in action. Seattle was on the front foot early and looked like they had a goal in them as they repeatedly worked into the offensive zone.

The best look in the opening stanza was authored by Sounders right back DeAndre Yedlin, who fired a hard shot from distance in the fifth minute that represented one of three first-half saves by Dallas 'keeper Seitz.

Dallas had trouble creating chances in the opening part of the half, but were dangerous in the minutes before the break as Jackson, Andrew Jacobson and Fabian Castillo each put Sounders goalkeeper Marcus Hanemann to the test.

Next week Seattle closes out the regular season at Century Link Field when they host the Los Angeles Galaxy, while FC Dallas visit Buck Shaw Stadium to take on the Earthquakes.

Rank Player What We Saw
1 Michel In Schellas Hyndman's last home game, the Dallas head coach made an inspired substitution as Michel gave Dallas the decisive lead on one of his patented, left-footed free kicks and then added a goal.
2 Matt Hedges With the attack sputtering, FC Dallas went to their go-to move for a goal: the set piece. And Hedges, who was already a factor on defense, delivered to give a proper send-off to the coach who gave him his break.
3 Clint Dempsey Despite ailing shoulder, Deuce is Sounders' primary playmaker on the day. Made numerous plays that showed off his class, but the final finish was lacking and the goal drought continues.
