Germany 1, USA 2 | International Friendly Match Recap

The US national team are starting to put it together. They had a bit of a hangover after the World Cup, but have now rung up three consecutive strong results, the latest coming in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Germany.

The win was the USA's first in Germany and was their second straight against a Top 10 team in the FIFA World Rankings, giving them plenty of momentum heading into next month's CONCACAF Gold Cup.

WOOD THE WINNER, AGAIN: Bobby Wood came up huge again for the USMNT, five days after bagging the winning goal in a 4-3 win over the Netherlands. In the 87th minute Brad Evans played a ball towards the box from the right side midfield. Jordan Morris showed for the ball, but dummied it for the open Wood. The Hawaiian let loose with a rip from outside the box that ended up in the back of the net. Wood may have an easier time finding a new club in Germany after scoring such an eye-catching goal against the country's national team.

BRADLEY, MAN OF THE MATCH: Michael Bradley has adapted well to his new role. Playing as the team's primary creator Bradley's vision and passing ability were on display throughout the match as he played his teammates into space with incisive balls all over the field. Bradley had his best chance to score in the 83rd minute when he played DeAndre Yedlin into space in Germany's box. Yedlin then found Bradley with a cutback and his strong left-footed strike was saved by an outstretched Ron-Robert Zieler left foot.

US SHOW WELL: After a rough first half, Jurgen Klinsmann’s team came out in the second half ready to fly. The US controlled much of the possession in the first 20 minutes of the half and looked about as comfortable on the ball as any team could against the world’s No. 1 team.

GOTZE DOES IT AGAIN: Mario Gotze scored the goal that everyone dreams of scoring last year in Brazil, the game-winner in a World Cup Final. He has scored once more for Die Mannschaft since then and he added his 14th international goal in the 12th minute. In his first international cap, Patrick Herrmann made a weaving run through the US defense and Timmy Chandler was caught sleeping on the backside. Gotze was left all alone for an easy finish.

MIX ANSWERS: Germany dominated much of the first half, controlling over 67 percent of the possession and creating several high-quality chances. But the US were able to put together some nice sequences, including in the 41st minute. After having their most sustained possession of the first period, Bradley ended up with the ball and served it across the field to a streaking Mix Diskerud. The NYCFC midfielder took it down with his chest and put it away with the outside of his right foot, tying up the proceedings heading into halftime.
