Real Salt Lake 1, FC Dallas 0 | 2016 MLS Match Recap
It took 78 minutes, but Real Salt Lake finally found a winner against FC Dallas. Three points at home leapfrogs RSL over the LA Galaxy in the standings as the playoff push begins in earnest.
Jamison Olave's blast on a corner kick reset came after Chris Seitz was able to save a Joao Plata shot that was the best attempt on target to that point. Javier Morales sent in the cross following a short corner, and Olave was on clean-up duty to blast the ball home.
Tony Beltran earned a yellow card in the 43rd minute. He was the only player at risk of a suspension for yellow-card accumulation, and will miss RSL's next MLS match.
- OLAVE BREAKS THROUGH: Before Olave's match winner, Dallas had managed to keep RSL off the board for 360 minutes of MLS play according to Opta, a scoreless streak that stretched back to Sept. 6, 2014.
- MORALES KEEPS THE WHEEL TURNING: Morales came into Saturday night's match leading all MLS players with 782 completed passes in the opposing half, according to Opta. He added 37 successful passes to that total, which made up 14 percent of RSL's total successful passes in the opposition half.
