  • Sporting won their sixth consecutive home match – their longest since a club-record seven-game home winning streak during the 2000 season, and matching the longest in MLS this season – with their 2-0 win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday evening at Children’s Mercy Park. Benny Feilhaber scored a goal and added an assist; he has a goal and three assists over his last four matches.
  • The teams met once a year ago, Sporting taking a 3-2 win April 5 in Kansas City. It was Sporting’s second consecutive home win in the series; the Union had taken points on their previous two trips to face SKC.
  • The Union won the last meeting between the teams in Chester, a 2-1 win Oct. 18, 2014, ending a two-game Sporting KC winning streak there. The two clubs also squared off in the 2015 US Open Cup final at Talen Energy Stadium with SKC winning the title on penalties.
