Video Review: Atlanta awarded a penalty, Revs reduced to nine men
In the 37th minute of the Week 28 match between Atlanta United and the New England Revolution, referee Baldomero Toledo used Video Review to determine whether a hand ball foul was committed by a Revolution player in the New England penalty area.Toledo did not blow his whistle on the field, but when the ball went out of play, he reviewed the incident on the sideline monitor. The referee ultimately judged that New England defender Antonio Delamea committed a hand ball in the box on a shot by Atlanta’s Josef Martinez. The ruling led to a penalty kick for ATLUTD and a red card to Delamea for Denial of an Obvious Goal-Scoring Opportunity (DOGSO), leaving the Revolution with nine men.
