United States 0, Bosnia & Herzegovina 0 | International Friendly Recap
A new-look US national team put in plenty of effort, but inspiration was in short supply at StubHub Center as their January camp ended with a scoreless draw vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina on Sunday night.
Several players made their first senior international appearances, and CJ Sapong, Tyler Adams and Jordan Morris threatened the visitors' goal on several occasions. Clear chances were few and far between, however, and starting US goalkeeper Bill Hamid made perhaps the biggest play of the game with a sharp close-range save just before the break to preserve the deadlock.
Walker Zimmerman conceded a penalty kick just after halftime with a foul on Luka Menalo. But Philadelphia Union midfielder Haris Medunjanin was unable to slot home the spot kick, clanging his effort off the base of the post as Zack Steffen, making his USMNT debut, dived the other way.
Bosnia & Herzegovina finished the stronger of the two sides in the late going, but no one could find the net and the MLS-heavy US contingent will now pivot to their respective clubs' preseason activities. Meanwhile, the USMNT program will continue to wait for a permanent head coach to be selected at some point after next month's US Soccer Federation presidential election.

- CAP'N TRAPP: He's hardly the oldest or most experienced player on the roster, so it says something that Wil Trapp was handed the captain's armband by interim US coach Dave Sarachan. The Columbus Crew SC Homegrown was centrally involved in some of the USMNT's best moments of the night, dictating and distributing from deep midfield.
- TORN UP: Morris may have provided the moment that summed up this game best of all, coming away with a gaping hole in his jersey after a bit of wrestling for a loose ball as a major WWE event unfolded thousands of miles away in Philadelphia...
