Carlos Vela scored his seventh goal of the season, a curling equalizer in the 74th minute, but LAFC (6-3-2) conceded nine minutes from full time to fall to Portland, 2-1, Saturday at Providence Park.

LAFC then hosted their first international friendly Wednesday night, playing Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw at Banc of California Stadium.

“You lose a 2-1 game, you look at the pluses, you look at the minuses, D.C. had a good win in San Jose so we certainly know they come in feeling positive about what’s going on there,” Bob Bradley said after the friendly. “We’re excited to be at home again and play on a great field.”

D.C. United (2-5-2) jumped on the Quakes from the opening whistle, with Zoltan Stieber, Darren Mattocks and Asad scoring inside the opening 40 minutes to give the visitors a commanding 3-0 lead.
