FC Cincinnati 0, Philadelphia Union 2 | 2019 MLS Match Recap
Neither team found much success in rain-soaked conditions in the first half, only for Marco Fabian to give the Union a breakthrough in the 47th minute. He collected a centering pass from David Accam, and slammed a left-footed shot past Spencer Richey.
Accam then doubled the lead in the 58th minute, dribbling past both Cincinnati center backs inside the 18-yard box before toe-poking home to make it 2-0.
- THE BIG PICTURE: For the first time in their MLS existence, FC Cincinnati was held off the scoresheet. The expansion club previously had scored a combined seven goals across their past four matches. Meanwhile, the Union recorded their second straight win and clean sheet.
- MOMENT OF THE MATCH: While Cincinnati came out on the wrong end of the scoreline, an important moment arrived in the 76th minute. Frankie Amaya, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 SuperDraft, made his MLS debut, substituting on for Allan Cruz. Amaya, a U.S. U-20 midfielder, most recently played for UCLA in the college ranks.
- MAN OF THE MATCH: David Accam stayed red hot with a goal and assist, giving him three goals and two assists across his last two matches. Effective for the remainder of the 2019 season, Accam also changed the last name on his jersey to "Titi" as a nod to his father, who recently passed away. While it's two games, Accam's down 2018 campaign looks to be firmly in the past.
