Philadelphia Union 2, Orlando City SC 2 | 2019 MLS Match Recap

Kacper Przybylko kept his hot streak going with a dramatic 90th-minute strike, and the Philadelphia Union salvaged a 2-2 draw against Orlando City SC on Sunday afternoon.

Philadelphia nearly escaped with all three points, only to see Orlando's Brian Rowe make a spectacular save to deny Jack Elliott a stoppage-time winner. Instead, they were forced to settle for four points out of six from a home-and-home series with Orlando that began on Wednesday, with the return leg postponed from Saturday night because of inclement weather.

Nani helped Orlando turn their 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead after entering in the 64th minute, feeding Dom Dwyer for a 67th-minute equalizer and taking the corner that eventually resulted in Santiago Patino's first professional goal.

Despite going behind early through Philadelphia's Marco Fabian, the Lions moved up one spot to ninth in the Eastern Conference with their road result against the East leaders.

Three Things

  • THE BIG PICTURE: Signed before 2018 but not playing a single minute until this season, Przybylko continues to be a revelation. He's now scored goals in four consecutive matches, hitting the net five times in that stretch, and has nine goals total, all since April 27.
  • MOMENT OF THE MATCH: In a game with three goals coming inside the final half-hour, it was Rowe's fabulous stop that marked the game's defining moments and — depending on who you ask — robbed Philadelphia of two points.
  • MAN OF THE MATCH: Nani. With a U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal looming, coach James O'Connor made nine changes to his starting XI from the side that lost to Philadelphia 3-1 at Exploria Stadium on Wednesday. By the time Nani entered, Orlando were lucky not to be trailing by more. But his service on Dwyer's goal was excellent. And suddenly they were on the front, at least until Pryzbylko gave the Union a very late boost.
