The Montreal Impact are still alive, albeit barely, for the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs, but need to snap a three-match league losing streak against an Atlanta United side looking to rebound from a stunning 4-1 midweek defeat at New York City FC.

The Impact (11-17-4) are hoping their Canadian Championship triumph Wednesday over rival Toronto FC, where they lifted the Voyageurs Cup for the first time since 2014 and qualified for the 2020 Concacaf Champions League in the process, can provide the needed momentum Sunday. Tsubasa Endoh leveled the aggregate series in the 70th minute. The match was decided by PKs after the 90 minutes were up and Bojan, Daniel Lovitz and Rudy Camacho converted from the spot for the Impact. Clement Diop saved Patrick Mullins, whilst Jozy Altidore struck the crossbar and Jonathan Osorio hit the left post for TFC.

In their first game without the injured Josef Martinez, Atlanta United (17-12-3) fell in an early three-goal hole en route to a 4-1 loss to NYCFC Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. Alexandru Mitrita struck for a hat trick inside the opening 34 minutes and nearly made it 4-0, but Maxi Moralez scuffed his penalty. Pity Martinez pulled the Five Stripes back a goal from the penalty spot, but Heber tacked on a late insurance goal as Atlanta dropped to third in the East, one point behind the Philadelphia Union.

This is the second meeting this year with Atlanta winning 2-1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Justin Meram struck for a brace, including the 83rd-minute winner after Zakaria Diallo leveled five minutes into the second half.
