The Houston Dynamo will hope to build on a winning streak that started with a 5-2 triumph over Sporting Kansas City at Children's Mercy Park in Week 7, while Peter Vermes' squad will try and avenge that defeat to stay atop the Western Conference table.

This is the third meeting this season, with SKC winning at home, 4-0, back on March 7. With 11 combined goals in two games, some fireworks could be in line at BBVA Stadium.

In that August 25 win, the first for Tab Ramos as an MLS head coach, Darwin Quintero struck for a brace and added an assist and Christian Ramirez, Alberth Elis and Niko Hansen added a goal apiece for the visitors in a performance Ramos said was brewing for some time.

In a match when Mauro Manotas wasn't even in the gameday roster and Elis came off the bench, the Dynamo still played on the front foot, managed 21 shots and cruised to a 3-0 victory over Minnesota United Wednesday night. Quintero scored in his first game against his former club and Ariel Lassiter added a second-half brace on his Dynamo debut, giving Ramos even more options in an attack proving diverse and dangerous.

“I think any win would have been a good win following a huge win on the road,” Ramos said. “But I think, in particular the way we did it without really suffering a lot today and we know that this league is long and there's a lot of games to play, but we can only live this moment here. And I think that the team reacted really well. I mentioned before that it's been coming, we’ve been playing this way we just weren't getting the results. And I think the team is, I feel it's getting better and better.”

Sporting Kansas City

Play Your Kids? That's what Vermes had in mind with a Homegrown midfield trio consisting of Gianluca Busio, Cameron Duke and Felipe Hernandez and when you add in Jaylin Lindsey and Daniel Salloi, there were five SKC academy graduates on the field in a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas Wednesday. Hernandez set up Khiry Shelton's equalizer in first-half stoppage time.

"That’s a pretty big step for us as a club," Vermes said. "Can it be better? For sure, but these are all good moments for those guys as they continue to grow and get better."
