With one win in their last six games, the New York Red Bulls are desperate to bounce back and they'll have revenge on their minds Sunday night when they take on a Philadelphia Union side coming off a 1-0 loss to Columbus Crew SC.

The Red Bulls have dominated the all-time regular season series at Red Bull Arena, winning eight of the 12 matches, losing just once. The Union won the latest encounter, 1-0, at Subaru Park on August 25 on a first-half goal by Kacper Przybylko.

New York Red Bulls

All the measurable statistics pointed toward a Red Bulls win, and a comfortable one at that, Wednesday night. New York had outshot D.C. United 17-5, had 12 corners, 58.7 percent possession and dominated duels 61-43. Tom Barlow also hit a post in the first half. Instead, it was the visitors leaving Red Bull Arena victorious thanks to a goal deep in second-half stoppage time by Erik Sorga.

The Red Bulls have scored just twice over the course of their last six games. And while Chris Armas was bullish his team was going to stay the course, it proved to be his last game in charge with the club parting ways with him and assistant coach C.J. Brown Friday.

"In this business, we have to make difficult decisions based on performances and, fundamentally, results," Red Bulls head of sport Kevin Thelwell said in a statement. "At this time, it's my decision that we must go in a different direction in order to meet the ambitions we have for our football club. We wish Chris and CJ all the best in their future endeavors."

Philadelphia Union

The Union's seven-match regular season run, which dated back to Week 2 in March, was snapped Wednesday night when Columbus Crew SC beat Philadelphia, 1-0, Wednesday night at MAPFRE Stadium. In his post-match comments, coach Jim Curtin credited Columbus and knows they'll face a highly motivated Red Bulls team Sunday night, though he's saddened with Armas' sudden departure.

"Chris is a close friend," Curtin said. "I can’t speak to the goings-on behind the scenes, but I can speak to the quality person Chris Armas is. The quality person. He brought them a Supporters’ Shield. It’s always difficult when someone loses their job, it’s the hard part of the game. Often times in pro sports when things are going well it’s ‘family, family, family,’ but when things get difficult it’s ‘business, business, business.’”
